Hey there, sunshine! I’m thrilled to have you join me on another episode of Your Artsy Friend. Consider this blog post a little breakdown of my episode! My blog and podcast will serve as a trusty companion, delivering warm cups of creative inspiration and pep talks whenever you need them most. I’m your host, Arastasia – a photographer, mural artist, and your artsy confidante. Today, we’re diving deep into the heart of a topic that’s all too familiar: overcoming creative ruts. If you’ve ever felt that desire to be creative, but some type of block stopping it…you’re not alone. Let’s unravel the art of breaking free from these ruts and reigniting your creative flame.
Picture this: you’re on the hunt for a piece of yourself that seems to be playing hide-and-seek. You’re itching to create, but something’s blocking the way – it’s as if the spark just won’t ignite. Frustrating, right? We’ve all been there, including yours truly. I’ve sat there wondering what’s wrong with me, why I can’t muster the creativity I so desperately crave. It’s like the creative spark went on vacation, and I’m left wondering why. But fear not, my friend, because I’ve journeyed through this, and I’ve got three golden keys to unlock your creativity.
Our first key is mindset. Let’s face it: perfectionism and imposter syndrome can hijack our creativity like a bad storm. The secret? Embrace the notion that your creativity is yours, and it’s purely for you. No strings attached. When you realize that creativity doesn’t have to be perfect, it frees you from the shackles of overthinking. It’s an expression of joy, an outlet just for you. Ditch the “Am I good enough?” thoughts and reclaim your creative space.

The second key is all about embracing experimentation and reigniting your childlike imagination. Remember those days when the world was a canvas, and every moment was a masterpiece waiting to be created? It’s time to tap into that energy. Recall one of your earliest creative memories – a time when you let your imagination roam free without concern for judgment or perfection. For me, it was making homemade perfumes out of flowers and grass. Experimentation is the heart of creativity, so allow yourself to try new things just for the joy of it.

The final key is a bit of tough love: infuse creativity into your daily life. I get it – life’s busy, and finding time for creativity can feel like an uphill battle. But here’s the truth: if you don’t prioritize creativity, it’ll always take a backseat. Start small. Paint for just 15 minutes in the morning or doodle while watching TV. Value your creativity as a vital part of your routine, and you’ll find that the spark starts to rekindle.

Until next time, keep creating and embracing the beautiful mess that is your creativity.
